What is the Birney Giving Tree?
Many families across San Diego are entering the holiday season without jobs or significantly reduced income due to the pandemic. To help make sure all families are able to buy gifts and food, the University Heights Community Association is asking our neighbors to please consider contributing to Alice Birney Elementary School’s Giving Tree.
The Giving Tree program invites community residents to donate gift cards in denominations ranging from $5 - $25 from stores such as Target, Lowes, Sprouts, Ralphs, or Trader Joes. The staff at Alice Birney will then discreetly include the gift cards in packets going to Birney families that need it the most this holiday.
Last year UHCA helped raise over $1000 in donations! This year we would love to meet or exceed that amount.
