Past, Present, and Future of the UH Branch San Diego Public Library

December 2022 Update

UH News produced a special section in our July 2021 issue looking at the past, present, and future of our “small, but mighty” UH Branch Library. Here it is “as it was printed” (will open in a new window).

We are bringing this issue back up again as the San Diego Library Foundation and San Diego Library are seeking community input and feedback on their plans for the new Library Master Plan.

This section covered the origins and history of our UH library, the current situation, and some thought provoking ideas for updating it to meet the needs of our growing community.

The University Heights Community Association Board Resolution Regarding our Community's Library Needs, April 25, 2021:

1. The current UH branch library is undersized for our current and growing number of residents.

2. Increased density requires increased investment in infrastructure, and the Library is a critical piece of infrastructure for the community.

3. All opportunities for new/expanded library space need to be explored in an open manner with the entire community’s input.

4. This matter must be prioritized and handled with urgency.

Participate and make your voice heard! Listening session is being held during the UHCA Monthly Meeting on Thursday December 1 2022 at the Birney School Auditorium at 7pm, and you can also submit your feedback directly by clicking here.
