We have a new, quick-and-easy way to support Birney. Just visit our website,, click on the Birney Monthly Donations on the right side of the screen, and follow the prompts. A donation of just $15 a month supports a part-time librarian and one child’s instruction in Spanish, art, music, and dance for a whole year. Also, coming soon, we will have an Amazon Store Front for Birney. That means, whenever you buy something on, and you use Birney’s storefront, Birney gets a commission. Read entire article.

Fire Officials Ask Residents To Keep Watch On Canyons
Our canyons provide open space, recreation opportunities and lush vegetation, but this fall they are especially prone to fire danger because of last summer’s record heat. Fire safety officials are asking University Heights residents to immediately report any signs of smoke or fire to 911 and to report any questionable activity in canyons to the SDPD: 619-531-2000.
