Free Laughter Yoga classes start Saturday, March 14 at Trolley Bark Park.
Where: Adams Ave, east side of park between Florida & Alabama Street
When: Every Saturday & Wednesday, 2 – 4 pm
Here are just a few of the many benefits of laughter. It reduces stress, worry, and anxiety, increases energy and productivity, relaxes muscles, reduces pain, and changes moods. It improves health, prevents heart disease, boosts the immune system, improves b-r-e-a-t-h-i-n-g, releases endorphins and expands the brain. It develops and strengthens relationships, encourages group bonding…and the best reason of all for participating is that it exudes JOY!
Laughter Yoga was founded by Dr. Madan Kataria, India’s guru of giggling. Kataria uses the word “yoga” only to clarify that laughter includes Mind, Body, and Soul…thus enhancing our emotional, mental, physical, and social well-being. However, these sessions are not done lying down, but standing (or, if preferred, sitting), and there is no physical strain as in many forms of yoga…just simple and playful movement that brings out the “child within us” through various FUN activities.
NOTE: A sense of humor is not required…although you will probably develop one while participating. All ages are welcome–men, women, and children. Be sure to bring a towel/blanket on which to rest.
