Rapid 215 (Mid-City Rapid), a high-frequency, limited-stop service between San Diego State University and Downtown San Diego via El Cajon and Park boulevards, began service on October 12, but close-out construction activities are ongoing. For your safety and the safety of the construction crew, please follow traffic control signage and directions around work zones.
The work schedule for El Cajon Boulevard has been revised to November 21-26. The schedule for Park Boulevard remains the same: November 19-20. The construction crew will be making special efforts to maintain driveway access; hence the work on El Cajon Boulevard will take longer than originally anticipated. Wherever there is a driveway that will be impacted, the construction crew will complete half a driveway width one day and the other half the next day. Please note the work schedule is subject to change based on the weather forecast.
Rapid 215 operates seven days a week from 5 am to 1 am. It runs every 10 minutes during weekday rush hours, every 15 minutes during most non-rush hours and weekends, and every 30 minutes after hours on weekdays and weekends. To learn more about the service, visit RapidMTS.com.
Construction Activities on Park Boulevard and El Cajon Boulevard
Slurry Seal and Re-striping: Between November 19 and 26, the construction crew will slurry seal portions of Park and El Cajon boulevards. This work entails applying a thin coat of asphalt ten feet out from the curb line to cover a portion of the pavement that was previously trenched. While this work is underway, street parking spaces will be temporarily closed off. “No parking” signs will be posted in advance of the work. Following the slurry seal, street parking spaces will be re-striped and re-opened.
