The Medical Examiner’s Office 2012 Annual Report shows 269 deaths were related to prescription drugs last year compared to 267 in 2011, part of a disturbing trend seen over the last seven years.
Now is your opportunity to get rid of any old or unwanted prescription drugs. Once again, The San Diego Police Department will be collecting and safely disposing of these items as part of the Drug Enforcement Administration’s (DEA) National Prescription Drug Take Back Day.
WHEN: Saturday, October 26th from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
WHERE: Western Division, 5215 Gaines Street
Police Officers and DEA Agents will be on-site to collect your old or unwanted prescription drugs. The service is free and anonymous. No questions asked. Sharps or needles cannot be accepted at any drop-off location.
UH Urban Harvest Festival – Saturday, November 2
The first annual University Heights Urban Harvest Festival will be held at the Birney Joint-use Field from 2 – 5 pm. The entire University Heights community is invited to celebrate the fall harvest with garden tours, freshly harvested fruits and vegetables, chef demonstrations, arts and crafts, music, composting demonstrations, and pumpkin-composting games. Remember to bring your Halloween jack-o-lanterns and enjoy rolling and smashing them into compost!
