The Circus Stays in Town

Although many University Heights residents are not aware of its existence, The Sophia Isadora Academy of Circus Arts, located at 4241 Park Blvd., is one of a growing number of sophisticated enterprises that contribute to our community’s increasingly hip vibe.

Founded in 2005 by Cheryl Lindley and Rogelio Lopez to honor the memory of their daughter, Sophia Isadora Lindley-Kessler, who died in an automobile accident on her way home from teaching at a Fern Street Circus summer camp, the Academy gives kids and adults an opportunity to learn acrobatics, contortionism and other physical skills. Fire Officials Ask Residents To Keep Watch On Canyons
Our canyons provide open space, recreation opportunities and lush vegetation, but this fall they are especially prone to fire danger because of last summer’s record heat. Fire safety officials are asking University Heights residents to immediately report any signs of smoke or fire to 911 and to report any questionable activity in canyons to the SDPD: 619-531-2000. Other tips about canyon fire safety and brush management are available on The San Diego Fire Rescue Department website.
