New Owners Spruce Up Neighborhood Favorite

Longtime University Heights coffee house Mystic Mocha has recently sold to a couple, Francis Weidinger and Natalie Buczkowski. Francis and Natalie have years of industry experience, having worked in such restaurants as Rainwater’s and Top of the Cove.

They have already started on upgrades, including new paint and additional outside seating. The couple also plans to start serving a variety of food items made with organic ingredients (as much as possible), including salsa, chorizo, chilaquiles, muffins and scones.

Coffee comes from Cafe Motto in Barrio Logan and is organic and fair trade. Francis can make 25 different mochas, the original idea behind Mystic Mocha. Stop by to see what’s new, and be sure to order one of their delicious drinks and food items!

Our Community – Our Future
University Heights straddles both the North Park and Uptown planning areas, and the Community Plans for both areas are being updated for the first time since 1988. These updates will set the course for a number of important areas in UH over the next 25 years.

The City of San Diego Planning Department is requesting comments from the City’s officially-recognized community planning groups for Uptown and North Park by mid-November 2015, and from the community at-large by October 5, 2015.

You can either provide input at the regularly scheduled meetings of Uptown Planners and the North Park Planning Committee, or by providing comments via email or postal service directly to Marlon Pangilinan, who staffs both planning groups:

Annual Friends of the SD Library Book Sale

Like UHCA on Facebook! BOOK SALE NEWSLETTER

All proceeds from this month’s book sale by The Friends of the San Diego Library will benefit our University Heights branch exclusively. This is a great chance for teachers to stock up on books for their classrooms, to find a useful travel or cook book, to let your kids pick out a back-to-school treat, or to find the DVD of that classic film you’ve always wanted to see.

If you have items to donate, please drop them off at the back of the UH library between 9 am and noon on Tuesdays and Thursdays up until the date of the book sale. Books, CDs, DVDs, and monetary donations are accepted and appreciated.
