UH Cleans Up! Saturday, November 3rd

Join your neighbors on the first Saturday in November from 9 am to noon for the semi-annual Clean UH Up! at the intersection of Washington, Lincoln and the Hwy 163 entrance. Previous and new volunteers are welcome.

Come for an hour, or more if you’d like. Bring your family, neighbors and friends, as well as brooms, dustpans, shovels, rakes and clippers if you have them. UHCA is also accepting permanent donations of any tools for this and future events. We will provide water, snacks and gift certificates to local establishments.

We are proud to live in University Heights! Let’s keep it looking sharp.

This event is sponsored by the UHCA Beautification and Planning Committee. For more information, contact MaryBeth Chruden.

Vermont St. Bridge Paint Job Starting in November

It’s possible the Vermont Street Bridge will be repainted by year’s end, said Dion Akers, an aide to Councilmember Todd Gloria, at the Sept. 6 University Heights Community Association (UHCA) meeting at the San Diego Schools Ed Center Auditorium, 4100 Normal St. Since the meeting, the City has informed UHCA of a start date for the first week of November.

The year-end completion date was made possible when the city removed the project from the city’s capital improvement process and placed it in the city’s street division improvement process, assuring UH of a refurbished bridge in time for our 125th Anniversary next August.
